In a significant development in the murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was allegedly killed during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, Indore Police on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of four accused—Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya informed that all four suspects are currently in the custody of the Indore Police Commissionerate and will be handed over to the Meghalaya Police later today after completion of transit remand formalities.

“The transit remand for three of them was secured yesterday, and the fourth was arrested today. Shillong Police will take them all together to Meghalaya today,” DCP Dandotiya told ANI. He also noted that Indore Police has been in constant coordination with their counterparts in Shillong since the beginning of the investigation.

The case took a dramatic turn after the deceased’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, was identified as the prime conspirator. She allegedly hired contract killers to murder her husband during their honeymoon. Sonam was arrested in Bihar’s Patna after she surrendered and was granted a three-day transit remand by the court.

According to police, Sonam was found near a roadside eatery on the Varanasi-Ghazipur route and temporarily held at a women’s shelter in Ghazipur before being taken for medical examination.

Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong confirmed the arrests and said investigations are ongoing to locate one remaining suspect. He noted that Sonam’s surrender has accelerated the probe.

SIT Chief Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor stated that the post-mortem report revealed Raja Raghuvanshi suffered two head injuries. The couple, both residents of Indore, had gone missing during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, and Raja’s body was later recovered in the state.

The murder has sparked widespread attention due to its premeditated nature and the alleged involvement of the victim’s wife, raising serious questions about the motive and planning behind the crime.
